This past weekend, Professor Tony Casarez earned his second degree on his black belt. He visited the Lucas Lepri Headquarters in Charlotte, NC. He was awarded this achievement by his Head Professor, Lucas Lepri.
This achievement marks 6 years as a black belt for Professor Tony, and almost 17 years since he started training Jiu Jitsu as a white belt. (Check out the blog on: Advice to My White Belt Self).
His advice to his students:
There will be days when you dread training. There will be days when life gets in the way. There will be losses in life that make you question why you do Jiu Jitsu in the first place. There will be people that try to convince you it’s not worth it. There will be times you have to move, change gyms, meet new coaches, new students.
At the end of the day, just keep showing up.
Don’t expect to feel great every training session. Don’t expect to always feel motivated.
Just keep showing up.
To Jiu Jitsu.
And to life.
As fathers.
As brothers.
As sisters.
Mothers.
Friends.
Leaders.
Just keep showing up.
The rest will follow.
